🌊 Sea Scouts — Water Skills at the Core

As a Sea Scout group, water-based activities are central to our program. From learning to sail in a dinghy to completing RYA powerboat certification, our proximity to Port Phillip Bay gives us opportunities that most Scout groups can only dream of. Sailing courses are offered to Scouts, Venturers and Rovers throughout the year.

Reef Environment Project

Real science. Real impact. Our Venturers are making a measurable difference to Port Phillip Bay.

🪸 Monitoring the Bay's Reef Ecosystem

Our Venturer Unit leads an ongoing environmental monitoring program at Holloway Bend on Port Phillip Bay — one of Victoria's significant but understudied reef environments. This is serious citizen science undertaken by young people aged 15–18.

The project involves regular dive surveys and surface monitoring to track the health of the reef ecosystem, with particular focus on the growing threat of microplastic pollution. Our data contributes to broader scientific research on the health of Port Phillip Bay.

The project is Commonwealth funded — recognition of its scientific value and the quality of the work our young members produce.

For Venturers, this project satisfies multiple Special Interest Area requirements (Environment, STEM, Creating a Better World) and contributes towards the Queen's Scout Award.
