From sailing Port Phillip Bay to monitoring reef ecosystems — our program is built around real adventure and real achievement.
The Scout program is structured around five interconnected pathways that develop the whole person.
Core skills and values that all Scouts develop, forming the foundation of the program.
Practical skills across bushcraft, navigation, paddling, climbing and more — across nine progressive stages.
Six themed areas letting Scouts pursue passion projects and develop expertise in chosen fields.
The pinnacle achievement for each section — from the Promise Challenge through to the Queen's Scout and Baden-Powell Awards.
Extra recognition for specific achievements including community service, leadership and specialised skills.
Our Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS) program covers nine key skill areas, each with progressive stages from beginner to expert. Members earn recognition as they develop competence and confidence in real-world outdoor environments.
Six themed areas let young people explore what they love and make a real difference.
Surfing, skiing, rock climbing, orienteering, extreme sports and physical challenges that push boundaries.
Community service, volunteering, social justice projects and actions that make a lasting positive impact.
Leadership skills, personal resilience, emotional intelligence, health and wellbeing.
Music, drama, visual arts, writing, photography, film-making and creative expression in all forms.
Conservation, sustainability, citizen science and environmental monitoring — like our own Reef Project.
Science experiments, engineering challenges, coding, robotics, innovation and technology projects.
A snapshot of the activities our members enjoy across all sections throughout the year.
As a Sea Scout group, water-based activities are central to our program. From learning to sail in a dinghy to completing RYA powerboat certification, our proximity to Port Phillip Bay gives us opportunities that most Scout groups can only dream of. Sailing courses are offered to Scouts, Venturers and Rovers throughout the year.
Real science. Real impact. Our Venturers are making a measurable difference to Port Phillip Bay.
Our Venturer Unit leads an ongoing environmental monitoring program at Holloway Bend on Port Phillip Bay — one of Victoria's significant but understudied reef environments. This is serious citizen science undertaken by young people aged 15–18.
The project involves regular dive surveys and surface monitoring to track the health of the reef ecosystem, with particular focus on the growing threat of microplastic pollution. Our data contributes to broader scientific research on the health of Port Phillip Bay.
The project is Commonwealth funded — recognition of its scientific value and the quality of the work our young members produce.
For Venturers, this project satisfies multiple Special Interest Area requirements (Environment, STEM, Creating a Better World) and contributes towards the Queen's Scout Award.
